Essential Oil Bottles | Aroma Hut Insitute

Why become an aromatherapist-isn’t reading about essential oils enough education on the subject? I guess I could also ask if reading about plumbing is enough to become a plumber or reading about healthcare is sufficient to become a doctor or a nurse. Since aromatherapy came to the United States in the 1980’s great strides have been made is essential oil education. It is not enough to know that essential oils have a long aromatic history that dates back at least 10,000 years. It is not enough to know that an essential oil is made up of hundreds, and sometimes thousands of different chemical components that have unique actions on the human body, emotions and spirit. It is not enough to know there are many different ways and methods of application to get the oils into the body and that the methods will be related to the chemistry and vibrational frequencies of the individual oils.

Here are five great reasons to add aromatherapy to your healing practice

First, whether you are a nurse, doctor, therapist, or energy healer, the essential oils simply make whatever you are doing-work better. Why? It’s about vibrational frequency. Everything living vibrates because the atoms are vibrating, the molecules are vibrating, the cells are vibrating, in short-everything is moving. When there is a state of health-we say the person is in harmony-everything is “singing” in balance. When there is disease or illness-something is out of balance-there is dis-harmony among the cells, tissues, organs of the body. Essential oils are living substances that carry a particular vibrational frequency which can aid whatever else you are offering the client for his/her health.

Second, knowing the chemistry of essential oils will give you a leg up on how nature works. Essential oils are made up of hydrocarbons like monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, oxygenated compounds like alcohols, phenols, esters, aldehydes, oxides, and many more. These compounds fall into categories with unique healing properties that do not cause side effects like man-made pharmaceuticals which are inert-non-living substances.

Third, knowing the actions of essential oils will enable you to better advise your clients on nature’s natural medicines. You can offer personal testimonies or look up the information to better enable the client to make their own choice for health.

Fourth, essential oils can improve your health and help you as a healing practitioner to be a model of health for others.  As you start to appropriately use essential oils for your own health, you will find you get sick less often, have more energy and even think more clearly. I guarantee you, your clients will notice the gradual changes and want to know what you are doing to improve your own health.

Fifth, becoming a certified aromatherapist gives you another credential showing that you have completed a rigorous course of study. Your clients deserve to know that you have spent time learning your craft whether it is in nursing, massage therapy, medicine, or energy healing. Integrating more than one modality will prepare you to address your client needs holistically.
